GentleMax Pro (755nm)

Often referred to as an Alex laser. Most patients are seated in a reclined position or lying down during the GentileMaxPro 755nm laser procedure. Protective eyewear will be put in place to ensure safety of the eyes in the presence of the laser light. Your provider will individualize the laser parameters/settings to customize the treatment to your condition. You may experience a cool burst of coolant, then a warm sensation. The required time for a treatment varies from a few minutes to approximately 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.

The GentleMaxPro 755nm laser is capable of sending intense light energy directly into the target areas of the epidermis and dermis with minimal effect on the surrounding tissue. The laser focuses on the melanin of the hair shaft and root or pigmented target areas and the heat is absorbed within them. Since there is little pain associated with the laser, no anesthetic is necessary.

The Candela’s unique Dynamic Cooling Device ‘DCD’ cryogen cooling system prepares the skin and soothes it to diminish any potential discomfort. It provides protection as well, which helps to minimize the side effects often associated with other laser treatments.

Redness and swelling, may occur following the alexandrite laser procedure. These usually resolve over a few hours. You may be advised to use cold compresses if desired and will be advised avoid sun exposure. Although not common, if bruising occurs, it will generally resolve over 5-7 days. Most patients are comfortable and able to return to normal activities, including work immediately after the alexandrite laser procedure.

Laser procedures are safe and gentle enough to be applied to most skin types and have been used safely and successfully on very young children since the 1980’s. For the GentleMaxPro alexandrite laser to be effective, there must be melanin present. Someone with light to medium skin and dark hair are best candidates for the hair removal treatments utilizing the alexandrite laser. After assessing your specific condition and goals for treatment, the physician or provider can discuss whether a Candela GentleMaxPro 755nm laser procedure would be the most effective way to address your individual situation.

Protective eyewear will be put in place to ensure safety of the eyes in the presence of the laser light. Your provider will individualize the laser parameters/settings to customize the treatment to your condition. You may experience a cool burst of coolant, then a warm sensation. The ND Yag laser is considered an option for patients with moderate tanned – dark skin color. Since there is little pain associated with the laser, generally no anesthetic is necessary.
